STORMING
The Berlin post-hardcore trio Future Palace are back with full force.
Their first single 'Paradise' manifests a profound musical development with a much more massive sound – for the first time shouts and down-tuned guitars expand the sonic and emotional repertoire of the band. Reminding of metalcore heavyweights such as While She Sleeps, their new sound delivers an unparalleled exciting force with engaging vocals and furious temper.
“For me scream vocals are one of the most emotional ways to express misery and anger", vocalist Maria states. "When I started to write the lyrics for 'Paradise', I was unsure whether I really want to realize them in this way or if I'm even able to. But eventually, the decision to do it helped to achieve a completely different emotional depth." With this sonic evolution, Future Palace produce a track that deals with the serious search for a proverbial paradise and the simultaneous fight with depression and sluggishness. The contrast that derives from the lyrics is expressed in the music video of the single, directed by Pavel Trebukhin who worked with bands such as Imminence, Landmvrks, and Novelists FR.
Created as a visually highly impressive portrayal of the changing emotions represented in the song: the mournful atmosphere of a funeral service meets the literally staged paradise and makes clear how confusingly multidimensional the tasks of life can be. As well as the debut album »Escape«, 'Paradise' was produced by Annisokay guitarist Christoph Wieczorek at his Studio Sawdust Recordings in Halle, Germany.
Future Palace are one of the most aspiring post-hardcore acts in Germany. They already worked with Arising Empire for their debut »Escape« and gained several million streams for their songs on all streaming platforms. In early 2022 they will join Annisokay on their European tour. Together with their new single Future Palace also announce the first series of headline concerts – the »Take Me To Paradise« tour leads the band to several cities all over Germany in spring 2022. Defeating Gravity ist ein klangliches Monument zwischen Emo und Post-Hardcore, Melodik und Brachialität, Auftrieb und Verletzlichkeit, wie es das Songthema inmitten eines Gefühlsstroms aus Akzeptanz und Resignation auch verlangt.
„Wie der Name der Single schon verrät, geht es in Defeating Gravity darum, etwas besiegen zu wollen, was unbesiegbar erscheint“, kommentiert Sängerin Maria den Song.
„So oft bringt einen das Leben an den Abgrund, aber man probiert, nie zu fallen. Allzu häufig vergisst man dabei in seiner Sturheit und Ignoranz, dass man nur ein Mensch ist. Defeating Gravity fokussiert die Akzeptanz, seine eigenen Grenzen und Schwächen zu erkennen und zuzulassen, nachdem man sie zu lange verdrängt hat.“
Für das Musikvideo haben Future Palace das erste Mal mit Peter Leukhardt zusammengearbeitet, der schon Clips für unter anderem Annisokay, Beyond The Black oder Rising Insane gedreht hat. Für die visuelle Umsetzung ihrer neuen Single hat die Band sich in eine Halle in ihrem Probehaus begeben und Sängerin Maria dort analog zum Songtitel über eine Traverse zum Schweben gebracht – manchmal tut es schließlich gut, etwas über den Dingen zu stehen. Defeating Gravity ist Teil des zweiten Future-Palace-Albums Run, das am 10. Juni 2022 erscheint.
Bereits Singles wie das bombastische Flames, das mitreißende Paradise oder Heads Up hatten deutlich gemacht, wie stark der Kampf mit den eigenen Dämonen ein Grundthema des gesamten Werks ist.
Run wurde von Julian Breucker, der unter anderem schon mit Größen wie Beyond The Black gearbeitet hat und Annisokay-Gitarrist Christoph Wieczorek produziert, der die Platte ebenfalls gemixt und gemastert hat.
Das Album spricht über die Nachwirkungen einer toxischen Vergangenheit und zeigt auf gleichsam bildgewaltige wie verletzliche Art und Weise, dass der Kampf mit dem eigenen Seelenheil auch nach der Flucht aus einer dramatischen Situation gerade erst beginnt. Die Band vertont diese schmerzvollen Prozesse in dramatischem Post- Hardcore, der das Auf und Ab der eigenen Emotionen stimmungsvoll wiederzugeben vermag. Brachial wie Holding Absence, Spiritbox oder While She Sleeps, unwiderstehlich und mitreißend wie Bring Me The Horizon oder Pvris – Future Palace loten alle Extreme aus und gelangen zu einer Synthese, die so echt ist wie das Leben.
Future Palace zählen zu den aufstrebendsten Post-Hardcore-Acts in Deutschland, die schon seit ihrem Debütalbum Escape mit Arising Empire zusammenarbeiten. Auf Spotify verzeichnen ihre Songs hohe sechsstellige Klickzahlen. Im April bringt die Band ihre Musik nun endlich auf die Bühnen, wenn endlich ihre ersten eigenen Headliner-Konzerte stattfinden, bevor sie mit Annisokay im Mai und Battle Beast im August und September auf zwei große Europatourneen gehen.
