The vocals soar with beautiful harmony, and the melodies are powerful, captivating, and flow so perfectly.
About a third of the way in, the instrumental section is just stunning; an absolute powerhouse of sound.
This track is bound to be an epic hit once the album drops! I have been lucky enough to hear it for myself, and I can’t wait to give you all a comprehensive review soon.

BEAUTIFUL
Fans of ORYAD’s mystic prog metal have desperately waited for the band’s second video single to be released on April 13th – and with the vibrant and yet beautifully diverse song Eve, they shall not be disappointed: Listeners are being sucked right into a mystic world from the get-go.
With a low drone intro, complimented by haunted whispers and dissonant string elements, your ears are being pleased and your mind is immediately yanked off the spiral of stress and drab monotony of everyday life. ORYAD’s epic sound comes in heavy and dark with a line of long hi-gain chord layers. The single’s intro continues to build up before the verse leaves room for band leader Moira’s powerful vocals to unfold.
Surprisingly, the following chorus kicks in with a black metal vibe blast beat, while the vocal hook line climbing on top of it allows the song to open up, entering an even bigger epic level. During the instrumental part later on in the six and a half minutes long piece, more string ensemble segments are added to again raise the dynamic to greater heights before the ultimate break-down with an edgy repetitive guitar riff, while adding more and more elements to finalize this part with a prog drum groove.
Accompanied by a wonderful music video, ORYAD then throws their listeners into a dreamy underworld scenario, describing Eve as follows:
"This song is a monologue wherein Eve speaks back to her original tempter to stand up for her personhood rather than take the blame for all of humanity’s weaknesses. The poetry was inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Sonnet II in Epitaph for the Race of Man. We loved adding heavy doom and black metal touches to this song to give an edge to one of the myth’s mothers of mankind."
The bridge ends on a stunning long high soprano c note sung by Moira, which builds a classic emotional and dramatic minor 6th interval to the chord foundation underneath. The chorus kicks back in with single hits creating excitement and tension before jumping right into the blast beat section again. And just as we got lured to this door, tempted by atmospheric yet again haunting vibes, a single note guitar picking pattern drifts away into the distance like a brittle, unspoken farewell – or is it?
Each song – Eve included – on ORYAD’s upcoming album Sacred & Profane (release: May 25) speaks for the deep connection with nature and its spirits. The music holds the ability to carry its listeners through a colourful pallet of emotions, a journey which the band describes as follows: „In our society, we have anaesthetised so much of the human experience and partitioned off parts of ourselves, claiming that anger, for example, can only be ugly. That grief should be hidden. That it is socially acceptable to only revel in their brighter sibling's love, joy, and hope…which only makes those three more cloying and homogenised."
Eve has been recorded by Moira Murphy, Matt Gotlin-Sheehan and Luca Grieman at The Band Cave Studios in Denver and at Toxoplasma Records in East Tennessee. Once again, Vikram Shankar did a fantastic job on mixing and mastering this epic mystic song, combining elements from earlier classical romantic and baroque periods with a modern black metal dark prog touch.

Fans von ORYADs mystischem Prog-Metal haben verzweifelt darauf gewartet, dass die zweite Video-Single der Band am 13. April veröffentlicht wird - und mit dem lebendigen und doch wunderschön vielfältigen Song Eve werden sie nicht enttäuscht sein: Die Zuhörer werden von Anfang an in eine mystische Welt gesaugt.
Mit einem niedrigen Drohnen-Intro, ergänzt durch Spukflüstern und dissonante Saitenelemente, werden Ihre Ohren erfreut und Ihr Geist wird sofort aus der Spirale des Stresses und der langweiligen Monotonie des Alltags gerissen. ORYADs epischer Sound kommt in schwer und dunkel mit einer Reihe von langen Hi-Gain-Akkordschichten. Das Intro der Single baut sich weiter auf, bevor die Strophe Raum lässt, damit sich der kraftvolle Gesang der Bandleiterin Moira entfalten kann.
Überraschenderweise tritt der folgende Refrain mit einem Black-Metal-Vibe-Blass-Beat ein, während die Gesangs-Hook-Linie, die darüber klettert, es dem Song ermöglicht, sich zu öffnen und in ein noch größeres episches Level zu gelangen. Während des Instrumentalteils später in dem sechseinhalb Minuten langen Stück werden weitere Streicherensemblesegmente hinzugefügt, um die Dynamik vor dem ultimativen Zusammenbruch mit einem kantigen, sich wiederholenden Gitarrenriff wieder auf größere Höhen zu heben, während immer mehr Elemente hinzugefügt werden, um diesen Teil mit einem Prog-Drum-Groove abzuschließen.
Begleitet von einem wunderbaren Musikvideo wirft ORYAD ihre Zuhörer dann in ein verträumtes Unterweltszenario und beschreibt Eve wie folgt:
"Dieses Lied ist ein Monolog, in dem Eva zu ihrem ursprünglichen Versucher spricht, für ihre Persönlichkeit einzutreten, anstatt die Schuld für alle Schwächen der Menschheit zu übernehmen. Die Brücke endet mit einer atemberaubenden langen hohen Sopran-C-Note, die von Moira gesungen wird und ein klassisches emotionales und dramatisches kleines 6. Intervall zum Akkordfundament darunter aufbaut. Der Refrain tritt mit einzelnen Hits ein und schafft Aufregung und Spannung, bevor er wieder direkt in den Blast-Beat-Bereich springt. Und gerade als wir zu dieser Tür gelockt wurden, versucht von atmosphärischen, die wieder eindringlichen Vibes waren, driftet ein Gitarrenpickmuster mit einer einzigen Note in die Ferne wie ein spröder, unausgesprochener Abschied - oder doch?
Jeder Song - Eve enthalten - auf ORYADs kommendem Album Sacred & Profane (Veröffentlichung: 25. Mai) spricht für die tiefe Verbindung mit der Natur und ihren Geistern. Die Musik hat die Fähigkeit, ihre Zuhörer durch eine bunte Palette von Emotionen zu tragen, eine Reise, die die Band wie folgt beschreibt: "In unserer Gesellschaft haben wir so viel von der menschlichen Erfahrung betäubt und Teile von uns selbst aufgeteilt und behaupten, dass Wut zum Beispiel nur hässlich sein kann. Dieser Kummer sollte verborgen werden. Wieder einmal hat Vikram Shankar einen fantastischen Job beim Mischen und Mastering dieses epischen mystischen Songs geleistet und Elemente aus früheren klassischen romantischen und barocken Perioden mit einem modernen Black-Metal-Dark-Prog-Touch kombiniert.
