INTERVIEW WITH
ERIC FROM
OVERSHARE
OVERSHARE
We’re flawed, we’re ugly, we’re imprisoned within the impersonal, impenetrable, gooey love traps that shake you down like a mongoose that’s slathered himself in tar for no good reason other than to finally be able to feel on the outside what he feels on the inside. But the tar is laced with POP ROCKS®. And the poor mongoose gets some of it in his mouth on accident and now the rocks are popping but in a super disorienting way that somehow tastes like claymation. Just listen to our tracks, it’s all we ask. We deserve it. You deserve it. The mongoose deserves it. Please. For the love of god.

Overshare – Eric: Hi, I’m Eric, frontman of Overshare, AKA the talent. Massive music nerd, lover of Talking Heads, combat enthusiast, and an absolute sweetheart.
Overshare – Eric: Connor Wayne Cameron is the bassist and another founding member of Overshare next to me (Eric). Connor loves beer, getting horrible tattoos, and Talking Heads.
Josh Reed is the drummer and most recent addition to the band. Josh is a mystery and an enigma. If you were to ask the rest of the band to list facts about Josh, they’d say the following:
1) He plays the drums
2) He HATES Talking Heads
Then there would be an awkward silence as the band fails to list the third fact about Josh
Wil Farrier is the guitarist and the most talented member of the band according to everyone but me. He loves 80s music. He also hates Talking Heads.
Overshare – Eric: Overshare? It’s a tongue-in-cheek reference to the unfiltered, personal, and somewhat unhinged nature of my lyrics.
Overshare – Eric: We always start with the music first, and that almost always begins with drums and bass, the rhythm section. Sometimes everyone writes their own part, but often I (Eric) will program and record a demo with everything but guitar (I can’t play the guitar) in Ableton Live, and then take it to the band, then everyone will make each part their own, and we will base a song of the demo I made.
Being a 4 piece I’d say that the limitations we face breed creativity and lend themselves to a unique sound of our own.
For example, Connor has developed a very consistent, melodic, “hooky” style of bass, to kind of take the place of a rhythm guitarist, so Wil can focus on playing more lead guitar. I think this is a big part of our signature sound and can be heard all over our tracks.
Lyrically, I have a heavily poetry/ hip-hop influenced style of lyrics and vocals due to my background in poetry and me starting my music career in hip-hop. I used to have more pessimistic lyrics, where I would amalgamate all sources of heartache in my life into one fictional person, and then I’d write a song about that “Person.”
But lately, I’ve used more improvised or spontaneous lyrics, often written just a few moments before recording vocals.
Overshare – Eric: The song is about my past experience with hypersexuality during manic episodes. The song is sort of about fiending for the validation of sexual contact, but failing to really find that validation even when managing to find sex.
The “spaceships” in the chorus are metaphorical of sexual impulses.
Overshare – Eric: Our buddy John, bassist of a local Dallas band called Mode 88 has done 3/4 of our single covers including this one. So it was all his idea. We don’t really give him any instructions, we just let him create what he wants and it’s always turned out amazing.
Overshare – Eric: Equal parts chaotic, silly, sexy, in-your-face, and genuine. This is my passion project. It’s a vessel for me to process my emotions and share my story with people who may be moved by it.
Overshare – Eric: The idea of music being my full-time job, the idea of touring the country, the idea of sharing my love of music with others. I think this is a sentiment shared by the whole band.
Overshare – Eric: I can’t say we will look or sound the same, but Overshare will be releasing badass music for as long as I’m alive. If this same group of amazing people are still a part of the journey I’d love that, but I’ll figure out how to make this work even if it devolves into just a solo project.
But hopefully, we’re touring, moving the needle a bit more, and having a blast.
Overshare – Eric: Just local Texas shows for the foreseeable future!
Overshare – Eric: I think I got it all out. Remember to follow us on Spotify and Instagram and support us through streaming!

Can you help us?
Here at Darker Side of Music, we aim to bring Artists to more people giving them as much exposure as possible. We also are independent and are in no way supported by any Label.
Artists today have struggled to keep their art going for a long time, especially in the genres that we love and try to help. We are also in the same boat. We fight to survive if you use our site in any way and feel you can help us with the high running costs. Please think about supporting us so we can continue to help those artists that give us incredible enjoyment from what they create.
We all have something in common our love of music.
