Three men in matching black and blue outfits stand in an industrial setting with blue smoke, one bearded, another with face paint, and the front man gesturing with raised hands—just like a bold Elementor design come to life.

Lorem ipsum doHASSWUT was formed in 2013 in Alicante, Spain as a response to the need  to merge the raw intensity of metal with the pulsating energy of industrial electronic music. Since its inception, the band has sought to innovate, blending dark synthesizers, powerful guitar riffs, and socially charged lyrics that explore contemporary themes of resistance and rebellion. lor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Hello and thanks for answering our interview.  Could you introduce the band to our readers with a brief background?

Greetings to everyone, we are HASSWUT, an industrial metal band from Spain with over 10 years of experience in the scene. Over the years, we’ve developed a unique sound that blends heavy industrial beats with aggressive metal elements, drawing influence from bands such as Combichrist, Nachtmahr, Turmion Kätilöt, and many others. If you’re into dark, hard-hitting music with a strong rhythmic foundation and powerful energy, we are sure our sound will resonate with your tastes. Join us on this journey as we continue to evolve and bring new music to the industrial metal scene

What was the inspiration behind the latest single, ‘Sauerstoff’ ?

From very close to us, we’ve experienced firsthand the struggles of people we deeply care about, who have had to confront a range of mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, sadness, and many others. These personal experiences had a profound impact on us and served as the driving force behind one of our most powerful and dynamic songs. With this track, we wanted to contribute our small part in helping others find a way out of that dark world, the one where your own mind can sometimes trap you in a cycle of despair. While we fully recognize that mental health professionals and specialists are the ones who can provide the necessary treatment and care, we hope that our music can offer some comfort, encouragement, and strength to those going through difficult times. We may not have the answers, but we stand together with those who need help, and we will always be here to offer whatever support we can through our art.

There’s some intriguing artwork on the new album.  What’s the inspiration behind that?

This theme is deeply connected to what we discussed earlier. Through our music, we wanted to capture the essence of those voices that try to pull you further into the darkness, the ones that whisper doubts and make you feel small, worthless, and lost. In reality, these voices are far from the truth—they’re nothing but lies that attempt to overshadow your true strength. The challenge is to confront them head-on, to breathe deeply, to find your inner strength, and to rise above the darkness. It’s about lifting your head high and continuing forward, no matter how hard the journey may seem. We want to send a message of resilience and empowerment, showing that no matter the struggle, you are capable of overcoming it and achieving anything you set your mind to

You are from Spain but have sort of a German aesthetic and vibe?  Why is that?  Is the explanation as simple as being inspired by German industrial artists?

It’s not just the German aesthetic that defines industrial music; the genre as a whole tends to have a strong visual identity, often incorporating uniforms or militaristic imagery. That said, there’s definitely a noticeable difference between European and American takes on this aesthetic, with each bringing its own unique flavor to the genre. For our latest project, however, we made a conscious decision to step away from the more serious, military-inspired style that has traditionally characterized much of the industrial scene. Instead, we leaned more into a science fiction aesthetic, pushing ourselves creatively and breaking free from the formula we had followed for the past ten years—one dominated by our signature colors of red and black. This shift allowed us to experiment with new visual elements, giving our work a fresh, bold look while still staying true to the intensity and energy of industrial music.

What’s next for Hasswut?  Any special plans? Videos? Tours?

Just a week ago, we dropped our first single, ‘Sauerstoff,’ and it’s already available to watch on YouTube and stream on all digital platforms. For those who prefer to own the track, you can also purchase it directly from our Bandcamp or through our label, Negative Gain. While we’re currently focusing on promoting this single, we’re already hard at work on our next one. But the big news is that at the end of April, we’ll officially release our brand new album, which has been finished and ready to go for several months now. We’re incredibly excited to share it with the world. On top of that, next month we’ll be hitting the road for our upcoming tour, which will take us to cities all over the place, playing for fans wherever we’re invited. We can’t wait to connect with everyone, share the new music, and give it our all on stage.

Your band photos are stunning.  The photographer did a wonderful job. What sort of discussion did you have with the photographer about how you wanted them to come out?

Interestingly, the photographer who worked on our photos is the same person who created the video for us. He’s not a professional photographer (he’s primarily a videographer), but despite that, he did an incredible job capturing the essence of what we were looking for. We collaborated closely with him, even using AI to show him some examples of the kind of aesthetic we envisioned. We were especially focused on incorporating blue into the visuals, as it’s the color that now defines our look. He really grasped the concept we had in mind, and the final result is exactly what we wanted. The photos you’ve seen are a direct reflection of the vision we had, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.

It’s been over a decade now since your first full-length release.  Would you go back and change anything about previous releases?

We wouldn’t change anything, because every mistake has been a valuable lesson, and we believe mistakes are necessary for growth. One of the most important things we’ve learned—something we probably should have done earlier—is to take our time and approach things with more patience. We’ve also come to understand the importance of reaching out to professionals in areas where we lack the expertise or proper equipment, such as in the final mixing and mastering of our tracks. It’s something we now realize is crucial to achieving the best possible sound, and we’ve learned that there’s no shame in asking for help to ensure the final product is polished and impactful.

These last words are yours.  Thanks for your time.

We want to extend a huge thank you for taking the time to feature us and give us space in your media. For independent bands like ours, the support from the media is invaluable, and it means even more coming from a country like Spain, which is often overlooked on the international scene. This kind of exposure is crucial for us as we continue to grow and connect with listeners around the world.”

We encourage all of you to follow us on our social media pages and digital platforms.
