Marking three decades of Massive Ego, Symphony Of Flies stands as one of the band’s most personal and defiant works to date. Across ten tracks, the album charts a journey through collapse, recovery, survival, and transformation – delivered with their signature blend of darkwave, EBM, glam, electronic rock, and confrontational pop.
At the heart of the album is “Broken Tomorrow,” a collaboration 30 years in the making. Frontman Marc Massive and Boy George, friends since George’s Jesus Loves You era, finally unite on record for the first time. Musically reminiscent of George’s iconic The Crying Game era, the track weaves melancholic synths, cinematic guitar lines, and deeply personal lyricism into a haunting, gothic centrepiece. George’s unmistakable voice threads through themes of heartbreak and resilience, making “Broken Tomorrow” one of the album’s defining moments.
Beyond that centrepiece, Symphony Of Fliesranges wide. Opener “In Your Own Darkness” sets the tone with brooding urgency, while tracks like “Man Become Monster” and “(My) Death Song” push into harder, more industrial territory. The album closes with “Spectacle Of My Own Making” — a defiant final statement from a band that has spent three decades refusing to disappear.
“The worst things that happen to you are the best things that happen to you.”
