Chicago industrial/metal project, Derision Cult has just unleashed their new single and video, "Bastards Of The World". The track is off the forthcoming EP, Mercenary Notes Pt. 1.
For the song, Derision Cult ringleader, Dave McAnally tapped into years of experience helping brands create narratives. "It deals with my experiences running campaigns that provoked enragement for a certain audience so another audience pays more attention." This has become an effective strategy. The messages we receive are attempts to illicit emotional responses.
"Bastards Of The World" was inspired by a specific instance where Dave was approached to help a gun manufacturer infuriate gun control advocates to create a run on guns and ammunition:
"On paper, the concept was very logical because when there are calls to ban weapons, we do see an uptick in sales for guns and ammunition. On principle, I didn't take the project, but it inspired me to talk about this type of a campaign in a track because these things go on all the time." - Dave McAnally
About the Upcoming EP, Mercenary Notes Pt. 1:
Mercenary Notes Pt 1 continues on Derision Cult’s themes of over-stimulation and public manipulation by corporations to sell more products.
The EP will contain a set of tracks which serve as survival guide for maintaining mental health in a media-entrenched world determined to generate hysteria and sensationalism among the masses.
“On the last album, we pointed out ways the media prays on people’s emotions. On this one, we’re talking about solutions and how to move forward in the 21st century." - Dave McAnally.
In addition to Dave and Sean, Mercenary Notes Pt 1 features a high-profile cast of guests that include Chris Connelly (Ministry, Pigface), Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie, The Cure) and Justin Broadrick (Godflesh).
Mercenary Notes Pt 1 will be available digitally and on CD with multiple bundle formats on December 2. Part 2 of the Mercenary Notes series is due the following year.
Das Chicagoer Industrie-/Metallprojekt Derision Cult hat gerade ihre neue Single und ihr neues Video "Bastards Of The World" veröffentlicht. Der Track ist von der kommenden EP, Mercenary Notes Pt. 1.
Für den Song, Derision Cult-Ringleader, nutzte Dave McAnally jahrelange Erfahrung darin, Marken bei der Erstellung von Erzählungen zu helfen. "Es geht um meine Erfahrungen bei der Durchführung von Kampagnen, die für ein bestimmtes Publikum wütend gemacht haben, so dass ein anderes Publikum mehr Aufmerksamkeit schenkt". Dies ist zu einer effektiven Strategie geworden. Die Botschaften, die wir erhalten, sind Versuche, illegale emotionale Reaktionen zu geben.
"Bastards Of The World" wurde von einem bestimmten Fall inspiriert, in dem Dave angesprochen wurde, um einem Waffenhersteller zu helfen, Befürworter der Waffenkontrolle wütend zu machen, um einen Lauf auf Waffen und Munition zu schaffen:
"Auf dem Papier war das Konzept sehr logisch, denn wenn es Aufrufe zum Verbot von Waffen gibt, sehen wir einen Anstieg der Verkäufe von Waffen und Munition. Grundsätzlich habe ich das Projekt nicht genommen, aber es hat mich dazu inspiriert, über diese Art von Kampagne in einem Track zu sprechen, weil diese Dinge die ganze Zeit weitergehen." - Dave McAnally
Über die kommende EP, Mercenary Notes Pt. 1:
Söldnerhinweise Pt 1 setzt die Themen von Derision Cult der Überstimulation und öffentlichen Manipulation durch Unternehmen fort, um mehr Produkte zu verkaufen.
Die EP wird eine Reihe von Tracks enthalten, die als Überlebensleitfaden für die Aufrechterhaltung der psychischen Gesundheit in einer medienverbrannten Welt dienen, die entschlossen ist, Hysterie und Sensationslust unter den Massen zu erzeugen.
"Auf dem letzten Album haben wir darauf hingewiesen, wie die Medien über die Emotionen der Menschen beten. In diesem Fall sprechen wir über Lösungen und wie wir im 21. Jahrhundert vorankommen können." - Dave McAnally.
